About Cairns Main

Cairns Nightlife
Whilst Cairns is not renowned for its nightlife there is more than enough to keep people entertained. At the end of a day diving or white water rafting or trekking through a rainforest it is amazing that some people have the energy to party the night away.

Nightlife is broken into the following categories:

Nightclubs
There are five nightclubs in Cairns. They are all in the CBD area and they specialise in the latest music and lots of dancing. These clubs are frequented equally by visitors to the region and locals. Drinks are normally quite cheap and they are open until late.

Bars
Bars tend to open earlier than nightclubs and close earlier. Many bars in and around Cairns serve meals and drinks and provide a fairly relaxed environment for people to wind down at the end of the day. There are a lot of bars, each has its own theme.

Casino
The Casino is probably the most well known entertainment venue, having a mix of restaurants, live entertainment and gaming available every day until the early hours.

Adult clubs
There is one main club, called naturally enough "The Club" that caters for more adult style entertainment.

Cinemas
There are in total 12 cinemas in Cairns. They are very popular once again with visitors and locals alike.

The Civic Theatre
The main theatre is the Civic Theatre, which hosts the majority of visiting entertainers and shows. The Civic Theatre has a diverse yearly calendar that is strongly supported by the people of Cairns.

The Convention Centre
The Cairns Convention Centre is the largest venue in Cairns and for this reason most popular bands and indoor sporting events are held here.

Clubs
Cairns has a number of clubs which are open to visitors as well as members. Clubs offer cheap drinks, good value meals and quite often live entertainment.

Dinner Cruises
A number of cruise ship operators offer evening dinner cruises along Trinity Inlet. These are calm water cruises that offer an alternative view of Cairns at night. Very romantic.
