HEALTH
AND WEALTH IN THE 21st CENTURY
An independent
assessment from an engineering viewpoint
Health
: General
Five years ago I was
told that I had Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia - a terminal disease with no known
cause and no known cure. This explanation wasn't good enough for me, so I began
my own research (using books, the Internet and contacts with a number of different
types of professionals in the health industry) into various ways of restoring
my health and giving my body the best possible chance of remaining disease free.
This site summarises the results of my findings. It deals specifically with
those chronic degenerative diseases which beset us in middle and old age.
I am a Civil Engineer with no health industry qualifications, but I have an
enquiring mind and an ability to study and critically analyse information presented
by others. Any statements made in the following pages can be attributed to professional
researchers in the health industry and can be justified to anyone who is interested
in enquiring further.
Read on to find out what has happened to the leukaemia.
Health
: Chronic Degenerative Diseases
Early this century the majority of deaths were caused by infectious diseases,
but with the improvements in hygiene and the advances in 20th century western
medicine, these have declined dramatically. However a new epidemic of diseases
has developed in the second half of the 20th century and these diseases are
now responsible for the majority of deaths. There are over 50 chronic degenerative
diseases, some of which are Alzheimer's Disease, Cancer, Cardiomyopathy, Coronary
Artery Disease, Crohn's Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Diabetes, Emphysema, Fibromyalgia,
Leukaemia, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Parkinson's
Disease, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Ulcerative Colitis.
The average age at which people in the western world are contracting these diseases
is decreasing. Deaths from the big seven (heart disease, cancer, strokes, diabetes,
arthritis, osteoporosis and Alzheimer's) have reached epidemic proportions.
In the USA they represent over 80% of all deaths. The so-called war against
cancer has not achieved its aims. The rate at which people are contracting and
dying from these diseases is increasing not decreasing.
Modern western medicine is in many cases extending the time of survival and
quality of life of people who contract these diseases, but up to now it has
generally done little by way of showing people how to avoid these diseases in
the first place (with some notable individual exceptions).
It is pleasing to see that this attitude is changing and that a lot of medical
research is now being done into topics like nutrition. Many medical practitioners
are taking an interest in prevention and are studying up on this latest research.
Those medical people who refuse to take an interest in the preventative side
of health care are likely to become obsolete in the 21st century.
Read on to see how long we should be able to live - free of disease.
Health
: Design Life
In engineering terms the design life of the human body is 120 to 140 years.
There are at least five isolated communities around the world where the inhabitants
routinely live disease free to these ages.
What is so different about these communities? The obvious answer to that question
is that they have not been touched by western lifestyles and still live exactly
the same way as their ancestors have for thousands of years.
Read on to see what is causing the epidemic of chronic degenerative disease
in the western world.
Health
: Causes of Chronic Degenerative
Diseases
It is a relatively simple process to identify the differences between the lifestyles
of the people in these remote communities and our current western lifestyles.
These differences explain the reasons why they live healthy disease free lives
to a ripe old age when westerners are succumbing to chronic degenerative diseases
at less than half their ages.
It is also useful to compare our lifestyles now with those of our ancestors a hundred years ago.
Key factors to consider are:
The remote communities referred to in the previous section have none of these problems. The people eat healthy natural foods which are highly nutritious and contain no toxic substances, they drink unpolluted water and breathe pure air, they keep physically fit (without overdoing it), they have little stress in their lives, and the elders in those communities are treated with great respect by the younger members of the communities. They have everything to live for.
The increased incidence of chronic degenerative disease has not gone unnoticed by the general public and there is currently an upsurge of interest in health issues which is reflected in the media. In particular, the "baby boomers" born between 1946 and 1964 are realising the importance of doing something positive to protect and improve their health. Unfortunately much of the information available in the media is promoted by vested interests which have profit motives as their central focus.
The basic causes behind all these diseases can be broken down into four fundamental areas:
Read on and see whether or not modern western medicine is addressing these causes.
Health
: Western Medicine
Although Western medicine
has made some remarkable scientific discoveries and developments in the past
50 years, it has very much focussed on the suppression of symptoms of diseases
after they have been contracted, using drugs which themselves are toxic to the
body and have side effects. You would never give them to a well person because
they would damage the body, but they are given to sick people!!
The other common approach is to cut it out or replace it if it's a problem. The cut, burn, poison approach is sometimes successful, sometimes not, but the side effects and associated trauma are most undesirable to say the least. Antibiotics, which were once hailed as wonder drugs, and have in fact been largely responsible for the decline in death rates from infectious diseases, adversely affect the immune system and so have a downside which can lead to the development of a more serious disease than the one being treated.
The medical profession has made a huge contribution to the treatment of injuries, diagnosis of disease, alleviation of symptoms, etc. It also has a huge contribution to make (not yet fully realised) in the area of disease prevention. Fortunately many medical practitioners are now realising this and are taking a very active interest in the latest medical research into such specialities as nutrition.
If your doctor admits that he knows nothing about nutrition (and many do) and what's more doesn't want to know, then find a new doctor. If you don't, your general health will continue to gradually decline until you eventually die. But if you find a doctor who is prepared to keep up to date with the latest medical research into nutrition, your general standard of health is likely to improve significantly.
Read on to see some examples of well known people who have learnt how to keep the human body free of disease.
Health
: Some Healthy Alternatives
Paul Bragg, who is well
known as the father of the wellness industry in the USA, has shown that it is
possible to maintain your health by using nutrition to nourish the body, fasting
to detoxify it, avoiding things like antibiotics which damage the immune system
and getting plenty of exercise (especially weight bearing), fresh air and sunshine,
etc. He was still running up and down mountains at the age of 97. He died after
being hit on the back of the head by a surfboard while surfing.
Dr George Malkmus has shown that it is possible to both prevent and heal all chronic degenerative diseases using nutritional methods alone. He has successfully shown hundreds of people with terminal diseases how they can restore their own health themselves at home.
Dr
Lorraine Day, a medical practitioner in the USA, is another well known author
and speaker who is very critical of those members of the medical profession
who refuse to learn about nutrition. She points out that a lot of things that
doctors are taught at medical school are quite wrong. She is living evidence
herself of how cancer can be cured using nutrition. She emphasises the importance
of also removing stress from your life, and recommends handing over all your
concerns to God. The ability of your body to absorb nutrients is then greatly
enhanced.
Dr Ian Brighthorpe and Ruth Maier are Australian authors who specialise in nutritional medicine and education and have shown that super-optimal performance of the immune system can be achieved with nutrition.
Most naturopaths and nutritionists are familiar with the work of these people and many others like them.
Dr Hulda Regehr Clark and Dr Robert Beck have quite separately contributed a lot of original research into the use of electronics in medicine, following on from the Rife system developed in the first half of the 20th century. They are achieving high levels of success in showing people how to restore the body to a situation where it will heal itself of chronic degenerative disease, including people with full blown AIDS.
Dr Michael Colgan has been researching the use of nutritiona1 supplements for over twenty years at the Colgan Institute in the USA, particularly in enhancing the performance of athletes. He himself would be one of the fittest 60 year olds in the USA.
Homeopaths, chiropractors, physiotherapists, acupuncturists, masseurs, herbal doctors, naturopaths, nutritionists, iridologists, dentists, oxygen therapists and dozens of other types of practitioners all have a role to play in contributing to the retention of a healthy body.
If it all seems confusing, it needn't be, if we relate everything back to the four fundamental areas that trigger the onset of chronic degenerative diseases.
Read on to learn how to prevent chronic degenerative disease.
Health
: Prevention of Chronic Degenerative
Diseases
These diseases do not
just come flying out of the sky and zap us. It is not like God all of a sudden
decides it's your turn now to cop one of these diseases. It takes many years
of following a particular pattern of abuse before any of these diseases develops
to a stage where obvious symptoms appear. Most adults who are struck down by
cancer could have stopped this happening by taking the appropriate action at
any time during the previous ten years, if they had known what to do and were
prepared to do it.
All of these diseases are a direct result of the way that we treat our bodies (often unwittingly). If we treated our bodies the same way that the residents of the five remote communities do, then we would not get these diseases and would live to be healthy and active 120 year olds. And it isn't good enough to blame genetic predisposition. Everyone and every machine has a weakest link which will be the first part to fail when it is put under excessive load, and these weakest links are often inherited within families, but they won't fail until they have been subjected to that excessive load.
The challenge of course is figuring out how to treat our bodies like this whilst still living a relatively normal life in a modern western civilisation.
In order to prevent (or at least delay) the onset of chronic degenerative disease in general it is simply a matter of addressing the four fundamental areas listed above. The chances of acquiring any disease when all of these matters have been attended to are extremely small compared to the bulk of the population who do not address these issues. Furthermore, people who already have one of these diseases are finding that in many cases the disease either disappears or its symptoms are markedly reduced when these issues are seriously tackled.
This is where the subject gets interesting, and in fact very confusing for most people in the population, because absolutely everyone has their own ideas about the best way of doing this. (It's like politics and religion.) Different types of health professionals promote their own favourite ways, which they have individually found to be effective. They have a living to make using their expertise in whatever area they have chosen to specialise. It is unfortunate that many professionals and non-professionals alike choose to criticise what others are doing, rather than all sectors of the health (or wellness) industry working together for what should be the one common cause, ie, don't just try to heal people after they get sick, but show them how to prevent the onset of illness before it happens.
Because doctors are generally highly respected by the general public they are in an ideal situation to set a good example in this regard. It's pleasing to note that many of them have now realised that they have been misled in the past and are now beginning to accept this responsibility.
Commercial interests have a field day in this situation and are able to jump on every bandwagon that comes along. Hence we have the various vested interests telling us to drink more milk, or eat more meat, or drink more tea, or eat more sugar, or do more exercise, or go on the latest fad diet, etc.
We need to critically examine the information available bearing in mind these vested interests.
Read on as we examine the different causes listed above and use common sense reasoning to figure out how to prevent and/or cure the various chronic degenerative diseases.
Health
: Cellular Nutrition
To date it has been
established that human cells require 59 different substances in order to operate
effectively. The only way the body can acquire these substances is by breathing
them (in the case of gases) or by ingesting them as food or drinks. The question
arises as to what range of different foods in what quantities are needed to
provide all these substances in sufficient amounts to keep the body operating
at peak efficiency. When research was conducted on the eating habits of 21,500
people in the USA it was found that only 3% were eating balanced nutritious
diets and not one person was consuming the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)
of the ten most essential nutrients.
During the 1990's a lot of medical research has been carried out in an effort to determine what quantities of these various nutrients are required for the human body to operate at its peak level of performance. One thing that has been established is that the RDA's which were developed fifty years ago are sufficient to prevent the onset of diseases like scurvy, but are insufficient to prevent the onset of the chronic degenerative diseases that we are examining.
A whole new set of standards is currently being established to achieve this aim. The way that these nutrients get into our bodies is via the foods that we eat, so the question is which foods in which combinations provide the optimum fuel mixture, and whether or not nutritional supplementation is required.
This becomes complicated because recent research has shown that even the natural foods that we eat don't contain the levels of nutrients that they did 100 years ago. Farmers nowadays routinely use only NPK fertilisers (nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium), as that is all that plants need to flourish, but all the other essential minerals that have been removed from the soil with previous crops are not replaced.
However, Paul Bragg, Dr George Malkmus and Dr Lorraine Day are three examples of well known people who have established that if you follow a strict dietary regime, you can prevent and cure chronic degenerative diseases using nutritional and stress reduction techniques without supplementation. It would not be appropriate for me to try and precis their writings, but I recommend that everyone take advantage of their experiences and learn from them.
The problem that arises however is that of actually getting people in the western world to comply with their strict dietary regimes. Unfortunately it normally only happens after people are struck down by a serious illness. They then decide all of a sudden to take the whole health issue a lot more seriously. Unfortunately for many it is either too late or they never discover that their bodies are quite capable of healing themselves given the right environment.
Another approach to the problem is to look at your ancestral diet. If people ate what their great grandparents did 100 years ago they would find that their bodies' biochemistries would be much more in line with the ideal situation (remember the five isolated communities), and they would retain their health much longer. To do this we need to maximise some foods and minimise others:
Although the average lifespan has increased in the last 100 years, this has been principally due to the significant reductions in infant and child death rates and the much lower incidence of infectious diseases (all of which have been brought about by the improvements in hygiene and the advances in western medicine). However the rate at which we are contracting chronic degenerative diseases is increasing, so the increase in average life span has not been as great as it could have been if we were able to slow down the rate at which these diseases were being contracted.
A lot of interesting new discoveries have been made by medical researchers in the 90's. It has been found for example that having too low a cholesterol is as bad as having one that is too high. Death rates increase as cholesterol drops, due not to heart disease but to cancer and suicide. Cholesterol is manufactured by the body and is essential for a healthy immune system. Remember the Pritikin diet which correctly removed all the above things but also removed all fats and oils and resulted in very low cholesterol readings? Pritikin himself is reported to have contracted cancer and committed suicide.
Another recent discovery concerning cholesterol is that the LDL - the so-called bad cholesterol which forms plaque in the arteries - will only do so after it has become oxidised. If high strength antioxidant supplements are being used the chances of plaque forming in the arteries are greatly reduced. It has been found that homocysteine levels are a much more relevant indicator of the chances of plaque forming in the arteries than cholesterol is.
Consequently a mid range cholesterol reading combined with the use of strong antioxidants gives us the best chance of avoiding both heart disease and cancer.
Our foods do not generally contain the nutrients that they did 100 years ago, as the soils do not contain the minerals that they did prior to the days of modern high intensity farming methods, but our foods also lose a lot of nutrients during transport and processing. Part of the solution is to ensure that only natural organic foods are consumed, but it is often difficult to obtain these foods.
Another option is nutritional supplementation, which puts the missing nutrients back into the foods. Dr Michael Colgan has shown that the performance of athletes can be markedly improved with supplementation. Other researchers have shown that nutritional supplementation can reduce the incidence of chronic degenerative diseases.
Read on to see how nutritional supplementation can reduce the incidence of chronic degenerative diseases.
Health
: Inorganic Toxins
Medical research in recent years has
shown that free radicals provide the trigger that sets off most of the chronic
degenerative diseases that we have been considering. These free radicals are
oxygen molecules with one electron missing from the outer shell.
Although oxygen is necessary for life to exist, it has a dark side in that it is able to react with many other substances to form oxides of those substances, eg, oxygen reacts with iron to form ferrous oxide (rust). It is a similar process which causes an apple to go brown when it comes in contact with oxygen in the air.
The free radicals are produced by the various toxins that enter the body, and by excessive stress and excessive exercise. The first obvious thing to do is to try and limit the amount of toxins entering the body. To do this you need to understand the sources of these toxins, many of which are in the home. Dr Hulda Clark has done an excellent job of explaining what the sources of these toxins are and how to minimise them.
The body has a natural defence mechanism against the toxins which do enter it. It produces antioxidants, which, along with other antioxidants obtained from our foods, provide the missing electrons to the oxygen molecules, thus preventing the oxidation effect. This is what happens when lemon juice is put on a cut apple - it no longer goes brown, as lemon juice is an antioxidant. This process works well as long as our bodies only absorb the amount of toxins that the residents of the five remote communities do and we eat the same antioxidant rich foods that they do.
If that is not the situation, the only way to significantly increase the antioxidant intake is by nutritional supplementation, in conjunction with a healthy diet of course. People who smoke, or are taking prescription drugs, or are under excessive stress, or exercise excessively will create more free radicals in their bodies than the rest of the population and will have a greater need for antioxidants.
Another factor to consider in relation to inorganic toxins is the cumulative effect of the various toxic heavy metals that get into our bodies. Our bodies' defence mechanism is to get them out of our blood and store them in organs or to gather them together into lumps or cysts which are initially benign but can then become cancerous. As these toxic substances build up in our organs they gradually poison us. One of the main sources of these toxins is amalgam fillings in our teeth, which are 50% mercury, and also contain silver, tin, zinc and copper. Aluminium and lead are two other toxic metals commonly found in our bodies. There are numerous studies available now which show the damaging effects of mercury, particularly its involvement in short term memory loss and Alzheimer's disease. It is pleasing to note that many dentists nowadays have chosen to switch over to the much safer composite fillings. It won't be long into the 21st century before all dentists will be obliged to change over. In Europe many countries are moving to ban them, and in California dentists are required to advise their patients that they are putting a toxic substance in their mouths. When these fillings are removed in Queensland, they become a hazardous substance under the Hazardous Goods Act and no one is allowed to touch them!!
It can be very difficult to remove these accumulated metals and poisons from our bodies (known as detoxing), even after the source is removed, but naturopaths and homeopaths are able to give advice on how to do this. There are many different ways of detoxing the body. Exercise is one obvious way of expelling toxins (through our perspiration). Fasting is another. It is important to realise that this must be done slowly, otherwise too fast a detox can cause a retox reaction. It can take many years to detox a middle aged body which has not been looked after.
If you have amalgam fillings, a visit to a dentist who specialises in the removal and replacement of these fillings is recommended. In Australia, members of the Oral Medicine and Toxicology Society can assist.
Read on to see how to remove parasites from our bodies.
Health
: Parasites
For the purposes of this article, the
term parasites includes all organic life forms that get into our bodies and
cause disease. Again Dr Hulda Clark has done an excellent job of explaining
to the general public what these parasites are and how to get rid of them. The
first obvious action is to try and minimise the number which get in, and hygiene
and cleanliness are obvious places to start. Having got in however it is then
up to the body's natural defence mechanisms to try and neutralise them. If the
body's immune system is weak it has an uphill battle - if it is strong it will
most times succeed. So how do we manage to keep our immune systems strong? The
many different types of health practitioners all have their own ways of achieving
this.
There is little doubt that those people who live a healthy lifestyle, ie, eat a good nutritious diet, avoid ingesting toxins, and get plenty of exercise and rest, find it much easier to avoid disease. This is becoming more and more difficult in our present Western societies, and many people are finding it necessary to use nutritional supplements to restore the balance.
If a bacterial infection manages to overcome the immune system, antibiotics can help, but bear in mind that they damage the immune system and this can leave the way open for one of the chronic degenerative diseases to set in.
A major source of infection in many people's bodies is their mouths. Most dentists do not warn us when they put in a root canal filling that there is no way of totally sealing off the capillaries in the dead tooth. These fill with bacteria which provide a constant source of infection for the immune system to fight for the rest of our lives. All it needs then is for the immune system to be knocked out by, for example, an overdose of antibiotics, and you develop leukaemia (or something equally serious). In fact extensive research by Dr Weston Price has shown that about 70% of people with a root canal filling will develop a chronic degenerative disease which can be at least partly attributed to the root canal filling. Dr George Meinig has publicised this research widely, and some dentists are heeding it but many aren't. In the 21st century all dentists will need to take issues like this seriously or face the dangers of litigation from an angry public. This is of course a major concern to their professional organisations and explains their reluctance to face up to these issues. Other sources of infection in the mouth include cavitations which have not been cleaned out after a tooth has been extracted. A soft bony mass regrows in the area and becomes a home for bacterial infection. Anyone who has these conditions in their mouths and has developed any chronic degenerative disease, or who is concerned about the possibility of this happening, should consult a dentist who is serious about attacking these problems. If your dentist tells you that these things aren't a problem you should be 1ooking for another dentist.
Dr Hulda Clark and Dr Robert Beck have both developed interesting ways of assisting the immune system to fight off viruses and bacteria. Basically it has been known and proven for some time that all viruses and bacteria can be immobilised by milliampere electric currents. The challenge has been to find a practical way to use that discovery. Hulda Clark uses a combination of an electronic gadget and herbal treatments, but Bob Beck has found a different way of immobilising all viruses and bacteria wherever they occur in the body. He has seen many people recover from full blown AIDS, as well as cancer and other diseases. Then there is always the Rife system which has been around for over fifty years and has been very successful at assisting people to overcome cancer and other diseases.
Oxygen therapies have been used for many years to assist the body to repel all sorts of parasites. These have been widely publicised by Ed McCabe among others. Basically either ozone (O3) or hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is used in minute quantities to oxygenate the blood, as the micro-organisms which cause disease can only survive in a low oxygen environment.
Read on to see what other measures are necessary to prevent chronic degenerative disease.
Health
: Exercise, Rest, Fresh Air, Sunshine, Trauma
Management
I have included these under one heading,
not because they are individually less important than the previous headings,
but because they are more straightforward and fairly easily understood. Paul
Bragg was one of the icons of the wellness industry and covered these subjects
very well in his writings.
Exercise covers not just aerobic exercise but weight bearing exercise. This is very important in the building of a healthy immune system. Adequate rest is needed to allow all our systems to recover. Meditation or prayer is essential and should provide the solid spiritual foundation on which healthy physical and mental structures can be built. The need for fresh air is obvious, and sunshine is needed to manufacture Vitamin D in our bodies.
Trauma management is not always given the consideration that it deserves. Our bodies are damaged in various ways as we progress through life and the management of these (often relatively minor) injuries can mean the difference between health and non-health. All too often damaging drugs are prescribed for the alleviation of pain in situations where a visit to a chiropractor or a naturopath could have seen the problem fixed without pain killers.
Read on to find out more about nutritional supplements.
Health
: Nutritional Supplements
Reference has been made to the use of
nutritional supplements in several places on this web site. The fact is that
it is possible to avoid, and even cure, chronic degenerative diseases using
a combination of nutrition and stress management without supplements. It is
however very difficult to adhere to the strict dietary regime required and still
live a relatively normal life in the current Western world. If you're already
suffering from a terminal disease this isn't such a problem but for the rest
of the community it is difficult to accept that such desperate measures are
needed.
This is where nutritional supplementation comes into its own. A scientifically designed formulation containing all the vitamins and minerals that the human body needs, while not negating the necessity to basically adhere to all the other requirements for a healthy body, makes it possible for mere mortals living in our modern Western society to participate quite normally in that society safe in the knowledge that we are very well protected against the onset of the chronic degenerative diseases which beset many of us in middle and old age.
In very broad terms such a formulation does three things:
In selecting a product to take, it is most important that you don't just opt for the cheapest product available, or the one most advertised, or whatever else. It is essential that you choose a product which:

Health
: The Future
As people (doctors
included) gradually begin to realise that they have been misled in many ways
in the past and that they are quite capable of taking control of their own health,
the need for traditional medical services should decrease. Accessibility of
information through the Internet with be a key factor in this trend.
The Internet revolution has only just commenced, and over the next thirty years will see changes in our lives more significant than the Industrial Revolution of the 18th century.
These changes will be driven by the younger generation who have the self assurance and access to knowledge that many of the older generation didn't have. No longer will they feel bound to accept the advice of people who know little about disease prevention and healing, and blindly allow them to poison and maim their bodies in the name of science. Young people today want to know why, and understand why, and this trend will develop further over the next thirty years.
Fortunately there is a new generation of medical specialists who are also realising this and are taking appropriate steps to realign their thinking and keep up with this trend.

Health
: My Testimony
You may wonder why a Civil Engineer
has taken so much interest in his health that he would study the subject to
the extent necessary to compose this web site. My interest was awakened seven
years ago when I lay in hospital in agony for five days with a kidney stone.
After being told by the medical profession that they had no idea what had caused
it and what action I should take to prevent it happening again, other than drinking
lots of water, I decided to seek out people who I thought may be able to answer
those questions. I found them in the natural health industry.
The crunch came two years later however, when I was informed that I had Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, and given a somewhat similar explanation, viz, that it was terminal but the cause was unknown and there was no known cure. Fortunately, being a chronic form of leukaemia, I had plenty of time up my sleeve to start taking the whole issue much more seriously, which meant a lot of reading and discussions with different types of professionals in the health industry, and a lot of experimentation with homeopathics, fasting, nutrition, diet, Chinese medicine, removing amalgam fillings, gold bridges, root canals, etc.
As a result of my efforts I can now report that my blood test results have improved to such an extent that a laboratory which didn't have knowledge of my previous results could not tell that I had ever had leukaemia. One of my GP's made the statement that I was "in remission". One of the reasons for my excitement about nutritional supplements is that I know they played a big part. I also know that in my case it was my acceptance of Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour that lead me to this answer.
I have also been able to figure out what caused the leukaemia in the first place. About the time that it was estimated I had first contracted the disease, I was in a situation of extreme stress in my job (meaning lots of free radicals being produced), not exercising very much (so not detoxing), eating too much sugar and fats (throwing out the biochemistry of my body, causing acidemia and free calcium excess in particular), having amalgam fillings (causing a build up to toxic metals in my organs) and having a root canal filling (giving my immune system a continuous workload fighting the bacteria). All this was bad enough, but the crunch came when I was given three consecutive doses of antibiotics, getting ever stronger, until my whole immune system was totally knocked out (as evidenced by a mouthful of thrush - excruciatingly painful as many women would know). This was the ideal situation for leukaemia to flourish.

assisting them to retain or regain their health as the case may be. I now have
quite a collection of testimonies and relevant books and web sites which explain
the various ways that you can regain your health yourself at home.

Wealth
: Why Become Wealthy?
After
"loving" and "being loved" (and having a relationship with God), the two most
important things in our lives are health and wealth. The "wealth" however is
no use to us unless we first have the "health". No amount of money and the things
that it can buy are any use to us if we don't have our health.
Hence the first reason to have a little bit of wealth is so that we can use it to look after our health. Our health should receive the first consideration when we are looking at what to spend our wealth on (however big or small it is).
A lot of people say that they aren't concerned about money but then spend their lives working in a job they don't like, trying to earn more, We shouldn't be earning money just for the sake of earning money. We must not allow wealth to become an all-encompassing feature o f our lives. However people who have wealth are able to get their financial affairs to the stage where the earning of income is no longer the most important thing in their lives and they are then able to devote their lives to using their talents to accomplish the things that they believe they were put on this earth to accomplish.
In summary, wealth firstly gives us the wherewithal to ensure that our health is taken care of (so that we can then put the remainder of our wealth to good use), and then gives us the time and freedom to employ our talents for the betterment of mankind. Wouldn't the world be a better place if we were a11 able to do this?
Read on to see how people become wealthy.
Wealth
: How Do Other People Become Wealthy?
If
we look at the wealthy people of the world, the first thing we find is that
they did not get there earning wages. With the possible exception of
a small number of people in the corporate world, it is most unusual for any
wages earner working 40 hours a week to ever save enough money to become wealthy.
Forgetting things that are out of our control like lotteries and bequests, the ways that people have accumulated wealth are through real estate, owning a business (which includes owning stocks and shares) or developing and marketing their skills in say the arts, music or sporting arenas, which is similar in a way to owning your own business. They haven't spent their lives earning money in a 9 to 5 job that they don't particularly like.
The other big thing we notice is that they got where they are by following a passion. There is something in their lives that they are passionate about and they have thrown all their energy into that passion. In other words they do what they love doing. The money is secondary. It comes later and often takes a while to do so. They have had to put a lot of time and effort into following their passion before that time arrives. And because it is their passion they don't usually sit back and rest on their laurels and decide not to work any more because they've made enough money - they keep on doing what they love doing. But they are able to do it in a more relaxed way and are able if they so desire to use their wealth for the betterment of mankind.
If you're in a 9 to 5 job ask yourself if you'd continue to do that job if you had won the lottery and were not going to be paid by your boss any more. Many wealthy people would continue to do what they are doing even if they weren't being paid because they are so passionate about it.
The main income stream of wealthy people does not come as payment for hours worked, but comes from investments in real estate or businesses which provide an income irrespective of whether they are actually working personally or not.
The complication with real estate is that you first have to acquire some"which isn't always easy. You then have to be very astute about your buying and selling decisions. I have owned lots of real estate but never made anything out of it.
The complication with businesses is that you usually need a lot of capital to get started, which you are risking, and you have the worry of supervising employees. Many businesses fail within the first twelve months.
Read on to find the solution to this dilemma.
Wealth
: How Do You Become Wealthy?
Wouldn't
you like to be in a situation where you had an ongoing income large enough for
you to forget about basic survival, and were able to utilise your time and excess
income to follow your dream or assist the rest of mankind?
The first step then is to find a passion, throw yourself into it and look for ways to convert your skills into money earning potential.
Not everyone dislikes their job, and many people make their 9 to 5 job their passion. This is not the way to wealth. It may or may not give them job satisfaction but it won't bring wealth. As long as you are being paid a fixed wage, or an hourly rate, you will probably never save enough money to join the ranks of the wealthy.
If you are already one of these wage earners, the next question of course is how do you find the time in amongst earning a regular income to refocus your life and follow a passion. Those of us who realised this at school age and were able to head down the path of following their passion and developing the relevant skills to the exclusion of most other things probably don't have this problem, as they wouldn't have been caught up in the bind of working in a 9 to 5 job that they didn't particularly like. The rest of us need to start following on a part time basis a passion which has the potential to become full time when it gets going. It is important to realise that this is a step of faith, and often needs great determination to accept that our lives need to be refocussed and we will be much better off in the long term for taking up this challenge. Your passion needs to be one which will provide an income stream which is r esidual ie, the money continues to flow in after you have stopped working. Examples of this are an author who writes a book and receives royalties forever more, or an inventor who does likewise. The author earns nothing while he is writing the book, but establishes a future income stream which continues forever more. Likewise the inventor earns nothing while he is developing the invention, and may spend quite a bit of his own money doing so, but has the foresight and determination to see it through to its conclusion.
What if we don't have these abilities'? Is there another way we can achieve the aim of owning our own business without risking any capital, without having to worry about employees and which provides a residual income stream in the same way as an author or inventor?
The answer is yes. It is the relationship marketing system which has become known as network marketing. Unfortunately network marketing received a bad name in many quarters as it came through its developmental phases over the past forty years, but with our current level of computer technology and the Internet revolution, the industry has changed dramatically and has become a highly sophisticated industry. It is well worth a closer look for anyone who isn't yet an author, an inventor or a highly paid celebrity, as the way to achieving that residual income stream discussed above.

Wealth
: Marketing in the 21st Century
The
world is currently going through a marketing revolution although most people
probably haven't yet realised it. The days of regularly going to the supermarket
to do your routine shopping are numbered. The advent of broad banding on the
Internet gives people the opportunity to shop from home. You can stroll down
the aisles of a supermarket inspecting goods and asking the shop attendant questions
about them from the comfort of your lounge chair, place your order and await
delivery.
On the other hand the modern network marketing industry is expanding rapidly. This is happening for several reasons:
Bill Gates has forecasted that the two main ways of doing business in the 21st century will be:
How
often have Bill Gates' forecasts been wrong?

Wealth
: Selecting a Network Marketing Company
All
network marketing companies aren't the same and you shouldn't jump at the first
opportunity which comes along without making some attempt to decide which is
the best company for you.
All companies provide an opportunity to make money, but the ones marketing nutritional products provide an opportunity to not just make money but to help people regain or retain their health, and this type of company can give great job satisfaction when you see the improvements in health, as well as wealth, that your friends experience.
There are books available where independent analysts have examined the various network marketing companies and come up with their recommendations.
Basically the things to look for are:
I have been through all this and have studied up on the different systems. I am happy to share my conclusions with anyone who is interested enough to complete the form in the Happiness section of this web site.

Happiness
: The Foundation
If
you desire real happiness in this life, no amount of health or wealth will achieve
this unless you have a basic spiritual foundation on which to base the other
two components. In my case, I became a Born Again Christian four years ago and
this has resolved that issue for me. Since than I have come to the following
conclusions regarding health and wealth.

Happiness
: Health
There
are many references in the Bible to health which I won't elaborate on here.
It has become quite apparent to me, as a result of all the studies outlined
in the Health section of this web site, that if we look after our bodies and
treat them as God intended, we will very likely remain healthy until the day
He decides to take us, whenever that may be. Only He can decide when to take
us home, but it is very much our choice how healthy we remain until that happens.
It concerns me greatly when I see Christians succumbing to diseases that they
have brought on to themselves (often quite unwittingly I might add) and then
appealing to God for miracle cures (which He in his grace sometimes hears but
often doesn't). If people spend half a lifetime abusing their bodies, they should
then feel at least a little bit contrite about asking for a miracle cure from
the Lord. I know that the Holy Spirit regularly produces miracle cures - Benny
Hinn's healing ministry is one of the best known in the world today - but knowing
what I know now I believe that the first step is to clean up your own body yourself
and then the Lord may find it much easier to assist you.
The New Age movement has been leading the way in recent years in its advocacy of the whole natural health issue. It concerns me that Christians, instead of setting an example by treating their bodies as God intended, are now having to play catch-up. Dr George Malkmus (an ex-Minister) and Dr Lorraine Day are examples of Christians who are providing leadership ie this area. I believe that the Lord would like all Christians to be leading the way in this regard, not doing the opposite. How many Christian ministers and pastors are preaching along these lines? Any particular church is only as knowledgeable as the individuals within it, but when I see Christian adults supplying such things as soft drinks and deep fried potato chips to children on a regular basis I really wonder. They don't seem to realise that they are setting their children down a middle age path of diabetes, osteoporosis and heart disease quite unnecessarily. Shouldn't they be trying to teach their children how to keep their bodies healthy instead of encouraging them to do the opposite? The human body is an incredible work of art by God and does a remarkable job of handling abuse but it will eventually succumb to disease if the individual is determined enough to make this happen.

Happiness
: Wealth
All my reading
of the Bible and other Christian literature leads me to the conclusion that
the Lord wishes all Christians to prosper. As long as we keep the main thing
in mind and don't make the pursuit of wealth the goal in itself, he will make
sure that this happens. Dozens of well known Christian evangelists, including
Benny Hinn who I mentioned earlier, preach along these lines. I won't attempt
to precis their teachings here but anyone who has concerns about this issue
can very easily put them to rest.

Happiness
: Combining Health and Wealth
Elsewhere
in this web site I've pointed out that Health and Wealth are two of the most
important things in our lives (after "loving" and "being loved"). They must
however rest on a solid spiritual foundation. I imagine them to be two sides
of a triangle resting on a Spiritual base. Assuming that the spiritual base
is in place, is it possible to join the other two at the top to arrive at a
stable triangle which represents true happiness?
The Health section of this web site shows how it is possible to retain or regain our health as the case may be. The Wealth section shows how it is possible to increase our wealth, particularly bearing in mind what is going to happen with marketing in the 21st century.
You can resolve both issues at once by joining the network marketing company which you believe to be marketing the finest nutritional products currently available on the world's markets, at the same time ensuring that you are happy with their ethics and their compensation plan, etc, as explained in the Wealth section.
I have seen many people not only regain their health and increase their wealth, but also develop a new passion in life which gives them a mechanism whereby they can better use their talents for the benefit of mankind in general and themselves and their families and friends in particular.
How you decide which company to become involved in is up to you. As you can see from everything that I have written on this web site I have undertaken a great deal of study over the past four years into the health and wealth (and spiritual) aspects of our lives.
