The
Future
As
people (doctors included) gradually begin to realise that they
have been misled in many ways in the past and that they are quite
capable of taking control of their own health, the need for traditional
medical services should decrease. Accessibility of information
through the Internet with be a key factor in this trend.
The
Internet revolution has only just commenced, and over the next
thirty years will see changes in our lives more significant than
the Industrial Revolution of the 18th century.
- There
will be a much greater awareness of how commercial food suppliers
are damaging our bodies and there will be a consumer reaction
against many of their practices. Many suppliers are already
starting to capitalise on this trend themselves. For those who
don't, Governments will take a much greater interest in the
quality of foods supplied and the accuracy of advertising. Many
of the products which are harmful, eg, softdrinks and products
with artificial preservatives, will eventually have health warnings
like cigarettes do now.
- Western
governments will have realised that their health care dollars
could be much better spent on education and prevention, rather
than on expensive treatments after the event, many of which
are the result of people unwittingly inflicting the problems
on themselves. If education can take the word "unwittingly"
out of the above sentence why then should the rest of the population
have to finance the cost of treatment in those situations? This
includes treatment for smokers for will need to accept more
and more responsibility for the results of their own actions.
- The
need for hospitals, and traditional doctors and specialists,
will have decreased and there will be a whole new generation
of doctors who specialise in prevention rather than cure. Also,
many people will be consulting medical specialists on the Internet
rather than face to face.
- Western
governments will have banned amalgam fillings and root canal
fillings. The dental profession will be given no choice but
to start accepting some responsibility for the total health
of the patient, rather than ignoring these issues for their
own convenience and fear of litigation. The potential for class
action against the dental profession, knowing what is now known,
is enormous.
- The
average life span of people will have increased significantly,
both as a result of advances in western medicine repairing the
self inflicted damage and more people taking control of their
own health as advocated in this web site.
- People
will generally be in a better state of health in their middle
age and old age as a result of the better health education they
received in their younger years.
- The
normal retiring age will have increased as people will be able
to live and work much longer, and the working community will
not be able to afford to carry older people who are quite fit
and healthy enough to keep looking after themselves.
These
changes will be driven by the younger generation who have the
self assurance and access to knowledge that many of the older
generation didn't have. No longer will they feel bound to accept
the advice of people who know little about disease prevention
and healing, and blindly allow them to poison and maim their bodies
in the name of science. Young people today want to know why, and
understand why, and this trend will develop further over the next
thirty years.
Fortunately
there is a new generation of medical specialists who are also
realising this and are taking appropriate steps to realign their
thinking and keep up with this trend.
