Golf is as popular in North Queensland
as it is elsewhere around the world. Of course the climate and lushness
of the courses is an added bonus in North Queensland. Golf
courses are plentiful and considered to be of a very high standard.
Most cities and regional centres have a public course where visitors
are welcome. A round of golf in these clubs can be anywhere from
$15 - $30 (plus club hire) depending on the facilities available.
Private
golf courses are generally more expensive, but not always. Exclusive
courses such as those found in the Sheraton Mirage in Port Douglas
charge about $100 per round.
Most
visiting golfers can comfortably find a course to suit their needs
and budget and the golf shops will gladly find a few other players
to form a team.
Birds
and animals are abundant at all North Queensland Golf
Courses, with most being home to animals
like kangaroos, cockatoos, kookaburras, sea eagles, herons, egrets,
goannas, pythons and even the occasional crocodile. Considering
the wildlife a round of golf
can at times be more like a safari.
Golfing
supplies are readily available throughout North Queensland.
